Testimonials

Tracy & Gareth

We brought our puppy, Ollie, to Stuart when he was just 6 months old. As first-time dog owners, we were nervous and excited about training Ollie, as we just wanted him to be the best he could be. Stuart quickly helped us realise that Ollie is learning from us and in fact it was us who needed to be “trained”. We needed to act as a team, be consistent, stay positive and then Ollie would excel. Stuart made the process easy and enjoyable. From the very first session, it was clear that Stuart has a special way with dogs. Ollie instantly warmed to him.

What we appreciated most was the emphasis on positive reinforcement. The training sessions were always fun and educational with easy exercises to do at home as well as in the classroom. Not only has Ollie learned essential skills like sit, stay, lie down, paw and walking on a lead, but he's also become a happy, well-adjusted pup who loves to learn.

We’re so grateful to Stuart for helping us to set Ollie up for success and giving us the confidence to continue his training at home. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and effective trainer, look no further than Stuart!

I met Stuart through group dog training, where he was so helpful with my rowdy youngster that we continued with 1-2-1 lessons outside the training groups. You don’t need any fancy props or learn complicated techniques, as Stuart keeps it effective and simple - his decades as K-9 trainer do show. After a couple sessions, I didn’t feel like being talked into unnecessary further training. Stuart is providing you with everything you need to continue training on your own, or will support as long as you need. When my dog and I mastered what we started to work on, we’ll definitely get Stuart’s help on the next training steps.

Lena

Stuart’s training style and demeanour is so calm and in-tune, our very anxious rescue took to him in seconds although he normally barks at strangers in the house non-stop. Out on the walk, Bruno was relaxed and attentive and thoroughly enjoyed the recall training - unlike when we tried this on our own before, so it was clear that Stuart’s presence made all the difference. Bruno is still ecstatic when he sees him now, it’s just adorable!

Most importantly, the training is all about your dog having fun and becoming the happy pup they deserve to be. Stuart won’t help you raise a zombie who quietly trots behind you the entire walk. He’s all about enjoying walks, games and training, so expect to have a good time with your pup!

About me

I spent 26 years as a police officer and have now embarked on a new adventure as a full-time dog trainer.

Dog training for me, started in 2005 when I adopted 2 rescue dogs with very different needs and personalities. I wanted to ensure I was doing the best for my dogs and not teach them bad habits. I sought advice from friends, family and professionals, which sparked a life long passion for dog training.

In 2011, I successfully passed a military dog handlers course and then a general purpose police dog course. Following this, I served as a police dog handler with the MOD police, for 8 years.

This gave me the opportunity to work and train closely with other police forces and agencies including the Metropolitan police, Thames Valley police, British Transport police and Customs & Excise. This exposed me to many different training techniques and styles, as well as venues not afforded to most people.

Broadening my experience, in 2021 I was invited to join Basingstoke & District Dog Training Club as a trainer. I now run their Puppy class and chair the Club committee. This has given me a broader understanding of training pet dogs of varying breeds (as well as the needs of their owners).

I have always had a very strong affinity with dogs and wish nothing more than to understand them better and help you.
